In the end of August 2006, I launched my
experimental community project at
ambatch.com. It was
really an experiment because I had no idea how to run a community
website. I needed to gather a lot of data to optimize the website
(templates and features) to provide a user-friendly experience for the

For my first start, I worked out a video
community website, got people to put the embedded code from video sites
onto Ambatch to let the people watch the videos.
I'm not the first one to have an idea to build
such video community website. There are tons of video file hosting sites
are available on the world. Although competition was rife, most of them
are still very hot even today and are ranked within Alexa 500 in the

Build A Community Project...
Most people, especially for the beginners, have
a project idea and then send it to programmers. Programmers will develop
a website according to your instruction. However, can they make a system
that is really good for the users and maximize your revenue? I don't
think so. This is a job for site optimizers and marketers. Testing is
required. Tweaking is required. For every tweak, it costs more money.
