In truth, there are a lot of categories within the territory of
metaphysics. If one wants to be proficient in all of them, it is
virtually impossible without 20 to 30 years of hard work.
But to be proficient in just one category is not too difficult a
task. If one puts in the effort, there will be some achievements
after 3 to 5 years.
The secret is:
First, one must have good foundation. That is, one should master the
basic principles, clearly understanding them, and learning by heart
the positive and negative* interactions between the 5 elements. E.G.:
metal controls wood, but also there are situations when metal can no
longer control wood and can be hurt by wood.
* means: productive and reductive cycle
Second, one must learn how to plot the life chart or the pattern of
life. One must be familiar with the calculations of that branch of
metaphysics, and avoid making unnecessary mistakes, such as getting
the wrong chart.
Third, is using the method of deduction. For example, when studying
the topic of wealth-making luck, one should examine and comprehend
all the different circumstances and combinations. Then test them by
using a large quantity of concrete examples, until satisfied that one
will not be wrong with any kind of situation. (If one cannot even
differentiate between auspicious and inauspicious, how can one be
expected to tell the details of a client's life?). Continue with
another category, e.g. marriage relationships. For each category one
should use two months to research it, spending 2 to 3 hours examining
3 to 5 life examples each day. If one does that, one can finish most
of the categories within a year.
Then in the coming year, use one's own chart for practical
experience. First, keep a diary. Every Sunday, sit down and calm
one's mind to review what has happened in the last week. Then analyze
the current luck, current year, month, and day. Endeavour to find the
manifestation of any incidents in the
chart, in particular the cause and course of the occurrence, the
degree of seriousness, etc. All this needs to be looked over clearly.
After one year of
accumulating experience and knowledge, one will have understood and
mastered the skills in this field.
Then in the third year, one can start using one's relatives' charts
for calculation and reference. Remember that one needs to make bold
assumptions and then seek the proof carefully. In the interval, if
there is any area that one does not understand, it is necessary to
consult one's tutor. One should frequently read related books and
ancient rhymed formulas. If there is area that one has failed to
understand, one cannot simply ignore it or skip it.
Acting like this, one can regard oneself as a proficient student in
this school of knowledge and treat the knowledge as one's own.
After three years, there will definitely be some results and
achievements. In addition, one should not be too greedy and learn too
many subjects/branches/categories of Chinese metaphysics at the same
time. Even before finishing with a subject, one should not study
another subject when there is limited time and energy. Without
concentration, one cannot learn any subject well.
